Should You Use Adsense Ready Themes?

Adsense Ready Themes

After getting their Adsense account approved, some WordPress bloggers look for Google Adsense ready themes. If you are one of those, you need to read this article till the end. Undoubtedly, at some point of time, making money blogging becomes a priority for every blogger. This decision/hope of a blogger is not bad, and actually encouraged as he/she deserves it.

But what when the same blogger goes into the extreme conditions of the same, eagerly waiting to increase the digits in the adsense account? This is the time when that blogger invests into Adsense ready themes.

Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the same. Just to let you know, that the cons would be more than the pros!

Pros

1) Higher Click-Through Rate

It Has To Do What It Is Meant For, right? The Adsense ready themes are made to achieve higher CTR (click-through rate) than other themes. These themes have a high range of options to choose from when it comes to the placement of ads.

2) Higher Earnings

Higher earnings depend on many factors apart from the ones provided within Adsense ready themes. Some of these factors are -

  • Search Engine Traffic
  • Relevancy Of Ads
  • Quality Of The Optimization Of The Blog and more…

Cons

As I said, the cons are going to be more than the pros -

1) Mind Diversion Of Bloggers

These Adsense ready themes influence the blog owner to put up ads all over the blog. As Google Adsense doesn’t allow more than 3 ads per page, blog owners use different PPC programs or affiliate programs to utilize the big bunch of ad spaces provided with the Adsense ready themes.

2) The Gradual Abundance Of Regular Visitors

This doesn’t happen to many, but some. The overuse of Adsense ready themes eventually ends up regular visitors turning into the opposite. Yes, some regular visitors to your blogs (if adsense ready themes are being used) will gradually start declining as the ads in a huge number annoy the crap out of them.

3) No More Quality

Many bloggers, in the psych of making the most out of the ads, keep on writing more and more posts without spotlighting on the eminence of the posts. This ends up losing the reputation one gained about the quality of the writing.

 4) Lack Of Professional Design Elements

The Adsense Ready Themes seem to focus only on, well, the ad spaces. I’ve personally seen many such designs where colors, design, graphics rarely have a take in it and only some are able to customize the themes and design unique graphics for the same.

So What’s The Alternative?

After writing the cons, I personally wouldn’t be giving any alternatives which surely compete the Adsense ready themes, but I’ll be giving a better one! Why not go for Thesis? I’m personally using it and actually delighted to do the same. For example, you can show the ads the way you like and wherever you like! I’m a coding geek, hence I know how to do (what I want to do). If you’re not a coder, why not get a thesis skin which will completely cut down your workload?

BottomLine

The bottomline would be that if you’re willing to be unique or at least different than others, avoid using the Adsense ready themes. BUT, if you’re sure you can use them effectively without annoying your readers, you can try ‘em. But yet, I personally don’t recommend using the Adsense ready themes.

    Hi Raaj,

I didn’t even know that these kinds of themes are available but then again, I’m not surprised. Since many bloggers just want to throw up a site and earn a quick buck these theme are probably dirt cheap too. Can you share the names of some of these themes? I’d love to take a look at one or two so I can see how they are set up.

Thanks for sharing your advice about Thesis. That’s my theme of choice also (but I’m sure you know that already) :)

      Hello Ms. Ileane.

Just to check out how dirty it could look, just google “HeatMapTheme” and you’ll see dozens of ad spaces when you see the demo of the same. What makes this whole scenario worse, is that the blog owners believe that it is mandatory to use ALL those ad spaces provided!

Well, Thesis is something that was made for bloggers and developers like me and you. You know, I told you about that project I was working on right? It’s about developing Thesis Skins.

Let me throw my two cents here, if you allow you me, please!

Ileane, we can’t look at Adsense Ready Themes with a total negative views. WordPress is awesome platform and being used for a variety kinds of sites. Why won’t you choose ARThemes if you target Adsense as your primary source of revenue? There’s nothing bad in it. Yes, if anybody does not know about the Ads and how they perform for his/her blog, it’s a different matter and it’s it is his/her problem not the Theme. You are given a gun because you’re a cop, does not mean that you will go out and shoot everybody.

Adsense Ready Themes are simply nothing more than WordPress themes optimized for Adsense Ads placement. They simply intend to make it as much friendly for bloggers to implement as possible.

Sorry, If I miss something or my understanding is lacking something. I just threw my two cents :-)

I have used adsense ready themes in the past and they have converted very well. But given the shake up, things have changed a lot and I am not sure if they are good ideas any more. But nonetheless they are still available for people to use.

Hey Shalu! Hope you enjoyed those conversions :) But glad that you realized that it’s a source of annoyance after all.

Well yeah, they’re available and actually some do use it too, but then I wouldn’t personally recommend it.

      Thanks for stopping by! Cheers

    Hi Raaj,
I was not actually aware that there are Adsense ready themes, what themes are they specifically?
I use Thesis theme actually (yay!), but I have to admit that I don’t really earn much in Adsense. Well, if you check out my blog, you’ll see that it was quite in a hibernation state so I guess that’s one factor why I don’t earn much lately.
Glad to be here on your blog for the first time :)

      HI Johanna.

I’m glad to have you here! If you check out my reply to the first comment on this post, you’ll see what sort of themes are these.

Yah! Thesis rocks :) I just had a look at your blog and it seems that you need some good customization on it. Maybe you could wait for some time and then get a thesis skin from me (It’s a new project under construction right now)? :)

I’m sure my skin(s) would help you well for the right placements of ads. Cheers!

Personally i don’t like to use adsense ready themes, they depict a MFA – Made for adsense site picture.A site should be more user friendly and thesis theme is way to go for non-geeks.

In my opinion Heatmap themes (a kind of Adsense ready) are actually some really good themes. Ofcourse if you put Ads on every nook and cranny of your site it’s going to annoy people. However if you offer them enough value in return you might be able to keep them coming.

    Hi Raaj,
I agree, too much ads in a blog or blog post can really piss readers off. I have been visiting some blogs before but stopped because there were so many pop-ups and ads here and there that I get distracted and forget what I was reading about. I’ve even read a post that had 7 ads scattered inside it, to the point I was confused on which part I would have to read so I could understand what the topic was really about. At the 6th ad, I gave up reading. It was a long post, yet I gave up reading it till the end because my curiosity turned to annoyance.

    Hi Raj,

I could not figure out how it relates to the ‘Adsense Related Themes’. You’ve really discussed awesome and the points are valid. But they are valid to any blog if the blogger implements Adsense, no matter if he uses Adsense ready themes or Thesis.

One more curiocity, how Adsense Ready themes can guaranty higher earning? After all, earning depends on the click quality and location of visitors. If ART increases higher click rates, won’t it get affected by ‘Smart Pricing’?

I have no knowledge about ready made adsense theme. Now a days most new bloggers love to earn without knowing anything of blogging. So I think these kinds of theme will be suitable for them.
